The 2 run bomb that Keely gave up reminded me of Randy Johnson

As in, the crazy 6’10” flamethrower that pitched for the Mariners in the late 90s and early 00s. The guy was always tough to hit (like Keely) and some nights he was damn near next to impossible.

But one game he gave up this towering home run to some average Joe. It wasn’t a guy like Barry Bonds or Mark McGwire. The guy just somehow connected on one of his high fastballs. It was a moon shot.

Randy knew it right away. As the guy was rounding the bases, Randy just started laughing and actually tipped his hat to the guy. Basically saying, “Yep, that’s gonna happen about every thousand at bats.” It was more luck than anything on the batter’s part. Same thing happened to Keely tonight. Girl got the fat part of the bat out just in time and at that very moment in time the speed and rise worked against Keely for once. Same way it happened to Randy that one time. Here’s the good news: it didn’t happen very often. At. All.
