We did pursue it, and eventually, they signed a deal with the photographer.


And the photographer got paid for the use of the photo, and will receive royalties from sales. But that was only after they launched the product.

That appears to be their business model: whatever is hot and trending, grab a photo of it -- from anywhere -- or screen grab it from video, and use it in a product, without finding where the photo/video came from and asking permission or signing an agreement.

Once confronted, they are above board and will do the right thing, but it's a "sin now and beg forgiveness later" kind of deal.
