There’s a book called The Great Influenza written by John Barry about the


Spanish Flu pandemic.

We should thank our lucky stars Covid is nowhere near as severe, but there are some similarities. Because both viruses are so proficient at evading our immune systems, the virus gets to places that few viruses do.

We know some people with Covid have memory problems (Covid brain) and CAT scans show a decline of grey matter. The Spanish Flu had the same effect.

I’m a layman, but as I understand it, wherever the virus goes our immune system will follow and there’s a lot of collateral damage at the battle site. Whether it’s myocarditis or brain damage, our immune system is the cause.
