One notable item: if you think the "medical screening" from these...


...companies means you're free from cancer and other serious illnesses, not so fast. I think they said they only screen for the most common three markers. If you want a full workup, you need to go to a company that screens your entire DNA sequence for all of the markers. There were some women on the episode who were diagnosed with breast cancer, but their commercial DNA screen (23 & Me?) didn't indicate they had any risk. If you come up positive for markers, then you are at risk for developing cancer down the road, but a negative result doesn't mean they caught the marker for you.

Bottom line: you should take those results with a grain of salt.
