Why should they?


Why should how well a team is playing down the stretch matter?

It doesn't in any other sport. You make the playoffs based on your overall record. The first game of the season counts exactly as much as the last.

An NFL team that starts 3-6 then finishes strong and finishes 10-7 is still seeded behind a 11-6 team that maybe started 9-2 and finished the season very poorly.
