You got the old rivalry, which ended up all good at the end of the original, and presumably by the trailer, they made even more amends and made friends, and Iceman passes awaywhich gives Maverick the extra 'oomph' to go kill the Ruskies (or whomever they are fighting lol)

I actually hope that's the story....I don't want to see infirmed Val (real or CGI'ed)...that would be so disrespectful imho
