As a Hokie, I think that some of the name-calling on these boards is beneath us.

Yes, this is a fan board and I suppose it can be fun to make light fun of another program from time to time, but the derogatory nicknames that are used, usually by just a few posters, just doesn't seem up to the high standards that I have come to expect of our fellow Hokies.

Despite recent tough times for FB, there may never have been a better overall time to be a Hokie, and I have high hopes that Pry will soon have us saying that about football too. The point is that we should feel good enough about ourselves that we can skip the juvenile name calling, show the rest of the conference a little respect, be proud Hokies without even looking like we're trying to tear others down.

Opinion stated. Do what you want, and I hope this post doesn't upset anyone. I think it is fair to talk about other teams/schools here, to compare ourselves favorably to them, to be critical of our own teams when deserved, etc. I'm not talking about censorship, just suggesting that we have earned the right to be proud and stand tall without resorting to the grade-school behavior.
