Favorite match of the year for each starter?

Reflecting back on the year, what was your favorite/most memorable match for each starter? Not necessarily the highest ranked guy that they beat, just the match that you enjoyed the most for whatever reason. Here are mine.

Latona: Beating Camacho at the NC State dual. Showed that the old Sam was back and really took it to Camacho.

Myers: Beating Phillipi at the ACCs. Great to see Korbin win the final chapter in a rivalry that went back almost a decade.

Gerardi. I’ll go with his win over Cedeno from UVA at the ACCs. It wasn’t technically the match that punched his ticket to nationals but once he won that one it was pretty assured since he just had to beat the Duke guy.

Andonian. Pinning Gomez in the NCAA quarters. Clinched Bryce’s first AA honors and one of the most exciting matches of the entire tournament.

Brady. Beating the Duke kid at ACCs to qualify for nationals and end his ACC losing skid.

Ulrey. I’m actually going to go with a loss here – his match against Valencia at the holiday dual tournament (forget what they called the tournament). Although Clayton came up a bit short, he made a strong comeback in a really exciting match and I feel like that match started to show his potential.

Lewis. Pinning Massa in the NCAA semis. His revenge win over Hidlay was pretty special, but comes in a close second for me.

Bolen. Beating Assad from Iowa in the first round at NCAAs. Bolen looked like he was gassing at the end and might let it slip away but pulled off an exciting takedown to clinch it. And, frankly, even if the match had not been really exciting, like it was, having Brands watch his guy lose to a Hokie would still have made this a strong contender.

Howard. I’ll go with his win in the UNC dual. He won comfortably, but it was a nice win against a rival team and brought back good memories of the big upset he pulled off against UNC last year.

Traxler. Beating Elam in OT to clinch the Missouri dual. Any OT win in the final, decisive match of a dual against a top 10 team is cool to watch, but it was especially nice to see Traxler pull that one out after the close loss in the same situation in the Ohio State dual.
