Silly to expect fans would want to cut checks to players...

I can understand the school itself or some donors setting up a pay system so there is possibly a mutually and financially beneficial relationship, but to expect fans to create a "proxy or slush fund" and pay college athletes is ridiculous. Fan support is made through ticket sales and donations, which goes to a broader support for the school and the department.

When an absurdly high amount of dollars starts being direct to a few specific players while others get none, that suggests the model is not sustainable. It contradicts everything about "team", "unity" and "equality". I think we could all support the best players getting some special privileges, but when the differences is millions or dollars to none, while in school... we have a problem.
