It's an interesting case study in why marketing/sales/hype matters


Even if a product is crap, if you put enough bows and ribbons on it and have some loud-mouthed shill yelling constantly about how great it is, people will buy it. Works for many consumer products. Also applies to SEC basketball this year. Relentlessly hyped by ESPN and others... but when crunch time came, the emperor had no clothes.
