He knew he was heading to Iowa a year before it was announced, then...


He redshirted his class of highly rated wrestlers with the intention to take all of them to Iowa with 4 years of eligibility when he left.

Jim Weaver knew this, and his only counter offer was to ask those guys to wrestler one year at VT while we rebuilt our program, and all would be granted unconditional releases. They were so brainwashed by Brands that they decided to miss a year of wrestling instead of wrestling one year for VT.

Tom Brands is everything that's wrong with college wrestling.
