Concerns heading into the Tournament - I've only got two!
1. The overall psyche of the team following the emotional win in Brooklyn. Since they started winning again, the goal, the push the dream was to get into the NCAAs. So now that they accomplished that, in dramatic fashion, can they turn the page in less than a week and get hungry again? A letdown here would not be all that surprising, shocking or worthy of negativity toward the team/coaches/program.
2. Our ability to get the ball into the frontcourt. If I were Texas I would press as long as my guys could handle it. One, it will get them a few turnovers (most likely) and even if not, it will force us to operate in the half court with less time than we are accustomed to. At times, our shot clock awareness is not great and we end up having to heave up a bad/contested shot. Our offense needs time to work, and if we start each possession with 18-20 seconds on the shot clock, that would concern me. We need to do a good job getting the ball up court and/or run some plays to take advantage of what pressing gives us in terms of a transition numbers advantage.
Honestly, if we can handle the emotional shifting of gears, and the full court pressure, I like our chances! If it doesn't work out, we still had a great year!
