Finally watched Saturday game

I finally had time to watch my recording of the game yesterday. I have to say that may have been one of the best played VT games ever. At the end, seeing the emotions of the players suddenly brought forth a lot of my own emotions. The only thing missing from the celebration for me, was that my Dad - rivahbob on these forums since about their inception - didn't get to see it. Dad graduated in '58 and was a dedicated Hokie until we lost him in October 2019. I started thinking about the games we went to or watched together. My earliest memory was the '68 Liberty Bowl when Tech scored and he jumped off the steps of our partly finished basement and smacked his head on an exposed beam. While living in Iowa before the days of cable, he found an area about two hours west of us that was televising the '73 NIT final, so we piled in the car and went out and rented a hotel room for the day to watch the game. When we moved to DE in the 70s we went to all of the Temple games in Philadelphia (we were also at Lane for THAT dreadful game) as well as some Big East BBall tournaments. At the MNC game in 2000, I thought we would have a repeat of the basement incident when we took the lead, we were that far up in the Superdome. I'll always remember the last few games we attended, when in his late 60s - early 70s he bounced as high to Enter Sandman as any undergrad in the building. I miss him greatly, but especially when I watch VT play. Enjoy the run Hokies, and hoist one to your favorite Hokie that has gone on ahead.
