Someone always wants control, and to have it, they have to hide it from the public eye.
So propaganda "Metrics" are created for "Smoke and Mirrors" to allow those that want "control" over the process to continue making the decisions behind closed doors.
Then controlled media talking heads (ESPN / Disney / etc) announce the "decisions" and spread @#$@#$ to try and pacify the fans that the #$%#$% they are seeing is jusified. And if they can't somehow justify the BS with the Metrics, then they just don't talk about it.

Want a large scale example of this type of crap?
Look up some of the propaganda being fed to Russian people about Ukraine invasion.

If VT lost to Duke, we would be crying right along with Buzz, whether the "Metrics" suggested we should have been selected or not, because it's not a system, it's a controlled environment dictated by the old men making the decisions.

All that aside, glad we are in!!
But trust me, the Selection committee did not want us to be there.
