I never thought I would be able to write that. Dad did his undergrad at NC State so we always watched the ACC.... I remember the 1974 Pack over Terrapins listening on the radio with my Pops and Mom as we were driving back from a basketball tournament in which my sister was a cheerleader..... the radio having static, but it felt like you were there! Not to mention that team stopping the UCLA streak and winning it all.
The ACC tournament was just other worldly.... getting tickets was next to impossible. People you knew who went were almost iconic... you put them on a pedestal!
And though times changed as it was more than one team that went to the NCAA's, the ACC tournament remained the premier tournament.... win that and you won the ACC championship!
And then my beloved Hokies became a part of the ACC, but the thought of them winning the basketball championship was just something I never thought possible.
But then this team that NEVER quit, even at 10-10 (2-7) and just started playing better and moved up the standings. This would give us a chance to get into the NCAA.... just still could not fathom them getting the automatic bid. But the team escaped Clemson and just kept playing better and THEY believed and beat tobacco road on the way!!

I do not know if I can even believe it now. Thanks to that team and the coach who grew up in little old Radford.

Not sure this post had a real purpose except to say, this is really something special because teams and moments like this do not come along often.
