As a kid I watched #1 NC State play #4 in the country Maryland (where my dad and his brothers played lacrosse) when they only had 24 teams make the NCAA tourney, and winning the regular season only meant a top seed...only ONE team made it to the dance and that was the tourney champ. Maryland lost in OT to David Thompson's NC State team that would go on to win the natty. MD had 5 or 6 future NBA guys so they were arguably the second best team in the country and didn't even go to the NCAA. The ACC tourney was must see TV and the Thurs/Fri games would be shown in schools during the day in MD, VA & NC. I'm so proud of this team making it to the finals and truly believe it is our destiny to win tonight...enjoy every second of it!! GO HOKIES!
