Here's interesting graphic on minutes played thus far: Duke vs. VT....
Of course the Hokies have played more with an extra game and an overtime one at that, but our last two games have been "easier" than Duke's two games. And, Duke is relying more heavily on their starters than we are especially their bigs.
Here's a quote from Hubert Davis' post game press conference talking about playing UVA and VT that I really like and think applies to tonight's game: "[Our] starters played big minutes and back-to-back high level games aren't really friendly to starters that play big minutes. Also, the two teams that we played, from an offensive standpoint have a lot of movement and they don't shoot quick shots so you're playing long defensive possessions. It's probably the worst two teams we could play because of their movement and how hard you have to work on every possession."
While Miami doesn't run the system that UVA or VT runs, their guys move the ball a lot and are super quick. And, Duke had to defend them down to the wire so the Blue Devils are feeling it today.
This is where David Jackson and all the work the guys put in over the summer and in strength training can really pay off. At the end of the championship, we'll probably know which school actually has the best strength and conditioning staff.
