The NET exists to filter quality wins and such things.


Your NET ranking doesn't matter as much as how many Quadrant 1 wins you have, and your overall strength of schedule and strength of record.

The good news for VT is that our SOR has climbed from No. 64 to No. 57 since yesterday, thanks to the ND win. That basically puts us on par with Indiana and Rutgers from the standpoint of SOR.

Now that the committee uses SOR as part of the process, I'm not sure that they should still use SOS anymore as a separate category, since SOS is a part of SOR. SOR is a measure of team accomplishment based on how difficult a team's W-L record is to achieve against their schedule.

In college football, you generally see the teams with the best SOR make the playoffs. I'm guessing that generally speaking, SOR is a high factor for at-large selections.
