Bubble analysis update, brighter than you'd think
There are realistically 6 spots up for grabs currently occupied by Notre Dame, Wake, Xavier, Wyoming, SMU, and Rutgers.
There are roughly 10 teams on the outside competing: VCU, Dayton, BYU, Indiana, Florida, TAMU, VT, UVA, Oklahoma, and UAB.
Wake, BYU, and Xavier have already lost so can only fall. VCU will play Dayton and Florida will play TAMU. Indiana plays Michigan in a huge one today. CUSA is probably a one-bid league so UAB and UNT are playing for that. UVA and VT will either lose to today or play a decider match. Wyoming is fading fast and is playing a team that just beat them.
So re-framing that, the outside looking in group is 1 SEC team, 1 A10 team, 1 ACC team, and possibly 1 B1G team. There are 2 teams in the field that are highly vulnerable, and 2 that have to win today (ND and Wyoming) to be safe, a 5th (SMU) needs to beat Memphis.
So rooting guide:
- TAMU over Florida
- Michigan over Indiana
- UNC over UVA
- UNLV over Wyoming
- VCU over Dayton (H2H loss)
- SMU to lose
- Iowa over Rutgers
If those results happen and VT can fail to lose today, we're right on the cusp with the mid-majors to play tomorrow.
