I doubt you're going to get much support for that

If you finish in the top 4, you play at most three games under the current system. That's advantageous going into the NCAAs. Adding an extra game where you play a very bad team isn't going to get too much support.

I think you would see 13, 14, and 15 left out of the tournament before you see the top teams playing early.

(Remember the old Big East used to leave out teams that were not in the top 12.)
