If the science of that book is remotely accurate


That is probably the most terrifying scenario possible. I genuinely think it would be worse than an actual nuclear strike. At least with a nuclear strike, most would die instantly instead of due to starvation and lack of medical care. Plus, whoever did survive a nuclear strike would most likely pull together in ways this country hasn't been able to do in 70+years.

But with an EMP that simply fried everything electrical built after the early 80's, we'd turn on ourselves as resources became scarce. I genuinely think it would be the end of the USA.
