Two thoughts
Well the game started as a blowout, got closer, became a blowout again. the basically stayed at an 18-20+ margin for much of the game.
1. Watching the highlights, I kept thinking to myselfdid anyone other than the top 6 or 7 players play at all through the first 3 quarters and into the 4th quarter. Nearly evey highlight had Shephard, Kitley, Amoore
Shepherd - 35 mins
Amore - 34 mins
Kitley - 32 mins
Traylor - 28 mins
Lytle - 24 mins
Baines - 20 mins
This is pretty much it other than
King - started..8 minuteswhat was this basically a minute here or there or the end of the game?
Gregg - 14 mins something meaningful but
German - 4mins . so what
So 6 people played extensive minutes against a team they were likely expected to win handily against and much of the game was in the 18-20 pt range?
2. The other area that I think Kitley needs to improve besides being more physical is off the ball defense. It seemed like many of the times a player - who Kitley was not guarding - scored, Kitley was the nearest help defender but she was just off, tentatively floating to the player, not dropping enough to really help prevent a score, or getting over slowly. Obviously, she may have been worried about a pass to her player in the paint but the highlights showed Clemson scoring a fair amount in the paint without Kitley helping stop it.
everything is relative of course. The hlghlights don't show the numerous shot attempts that didn't go in because of the defense.
