So I did a little research on our less-than-stellar historical performances in conference tournaments and the NCAA tournament.

In the 16 years we've participated in the ACC tournament, we have an overall record of 10-16, and have never made the final.

As the stronger seed, we have a record of 7-5, which seems pretty mediocre. As the underdog, we have a record of only 3-11. In 16 years, as near as I can tell, we've only beaten 3 higher seeds (2015 - Wake in the 11/14 game, 2012 - Clemson in the 7/10 game, and 2009 - FSU in the 3/6 game). It's kind of amazing that we've never done better than that.

In the NCAAs while seeding has been in place, we have an overall record of 6-10, but as the favorite we are 5-2, which seems pretty good. But as the lower seed, we are only 1-8. And that one win was against UWGB in 1996 when we were a criminally under-seeded 9 seed.

I didn't look at the Big East or NIT tournaments, but I don't really recall us winning too many games as the worse seed.

We just have never truly "outkicked our coverage" in tournaments that matter at the end of the year. Let's end that this year and go on a run!! We are more than overdue.
