I use Quicken Home and Business for double entry accounting.


but keep my paper check register. Those "preemptive" tax payments don't appear in my books until they are actually paid.

I don't have any employees and really just a few categories of expenses - I looked at Quickbooks, but seemed to be overkill for me - course I'm set in my ways too ;)

I know both my working balance on my check register, with my taxes already "paid" and the actual balance - Quicken - at any given time.
