Tangential topic: most vodkas are the same… (link)

The Planet Money podcast can be pretty interesting. They did an episode on vodka a couple of years ago…. Without listening to it again my takeaway was that most vodkas available in the US are made with high proof alcohol from the same source and then simply diluted by most of the brands to the desired proof. So, differences in taste are mostly due to what they dilute it with.
