It's all about draw controls and possession.
This point was never made more clear to me than the year my daughter's high school lost the state championship. I handle stats for the high school and during that season the team won close to 60% of draws. In the championship game the team won 36% of draws. No surprise the team lost. They had beaten that same team twice earlier in the year.
VT winning 28 percent of draws will not cut it. A 30 percent save percentage won't do it either. And averaging 5 SOG each quarter will not light the scoreboard. Kayla Frank is just not the same player she was as a true Freshman. Sophie Student it playing really well. IMO she's having an all ACC type of year. It's good to see VT had 6 players with assists today -- 8 of 11 goals were assisted. This tells me the team is moving the ball well. Sung's teams were much more about creating 1v1 offense. In the end though, the team has to win the draws and control time of possession.
