Tomorrow's pitching matchups

Just for fun, let play the pitching matchup game.

As I said before, I think the Hokies will get everyone's best shot, which means the ace of the staff.

For Miami in game 1, I think it has to be Brianna Pratt. She has back-to-back complete game shutouts against Bradley and South Carolina. No doubt that KK would like to notch Miami's 1st ever win over the Hokies since 2002 (20 years).

For South Carolina, I absolutely have no idea. Karsen Ochs (1-3, 3.82 ERA) has the most starts for the Gamecocks (5), but she got rocked tonight against Miami and in her last start against Marshall.

Kelsey Oh (2-0, 3.23 ERA) has started 3 games and has pitched well except for her first start of the season against Lipscomb (5 runs in 1.2 innings). Bailey Betenbaugh (2-0, 0.84 ERA) has good numbers but has only pitched 8.1 innings. Rachel Vaughn is the only lefty and hasn't given up a run, but has only pitched 10 innings.

On the Hokies side, I think it will be Rochard and Lemley but which one against which opponent. On paper, South Carolina has the better team batting average (.329 vs. .223) so that may be reason to go with Richard against the Gamecocks.

I'm just glad we have a message board on which to contemplate.

Let's Go Hokies!!!
