Advanced stats- all season long- have confirmed that something other than on-court performance is driving Young's allocation of playing time.

Here's the BPM for VT's backcourt players this season (via Torvik):

Maddox 5.2
Cattoor 4.7
Pedulla 3.1
Murphy -0.1
Alleyne -0.1

And here are the avg minutes per game for those same players:

Cattoor 33.3
Alleyne 31.4
Murphy 27.6
Maddox 15.3
Pedulla 11.9

Hmm. 2 of the 3 players getting the most minutes in the backcourt have negative BPM ratings. And 2 of the 3 backcourt players with the highest BPM ratings are getting the fewest minutes.

I guess analytics are just an "urban myth".
