I'm thinking Blade Runner and Alien being two that were done very well


Just look at Jaws to see how "less is more." Saw an interview with Spielberg who said they couldn't get the mechanical shark to work right, so he kept it from being in most of the shots. I think if it had worked well and he put it in the majority of the shots, it wouldn't have aged nearly as well.
