And the reason is Mike Young has a set script as far as who he will put in the game at those times, actual performance on the court be damned. His insistence on riding that same starting 5, come hell or high water, has already cost us some games this year. It will lead to a loss at Miami if the starters crap the bed the same way they did against GT last night.

Against GT, our starting PG had the whopping total of 2 pts on 1-5 shooting, 3 assists, and 2 TOs. He played 27 minutes. Our backup PG had 7 pts on 3-7 shooting, 1 assist, and 1 TO. He only played 17 minutes.

Our two starting wings combined for 19 points on 6-20 shooting. They played 36 and 32 minutes. Our backup wing had 12 points on 5-7 shooting. He only played 18 minutes.

At the end of the game, Murphy and Cattoor both looked and played very tentative. They had both struggled the entire contest. Their backups were clearly playing better THAT NIGHT, and the backups had staked the team to a 2nd half lead that evaporated when Young went back to his rigid starting five. Yet with the game on the line and the starters clearly gassed and in full retreat, the two guys (particularly Maddox) who had been largely responsible for the 2nd half success were once again parked on the bench.

It's beyond frustrating at this point to watch the same thing happen game after game, with the exact same response (or non-response) from the head coach. MY has many strengths, but adjusting the lineup based on the flow of a particular game doesn't appear to be one of them.
