when MLB relievers are discussed in terms of how important of a situation they're put in.
It's actually a stat. The baseline of 1 is the starting pitcher for inning 1. Game situation dictates that innings where there is a blow out and the stat gets less than 1 and tight situations with saves on the line or other close situations later in the game get above 1. So closers, I'm guessing, will typically have the highest leverage stats.
