In addition to the regular home meet, VT will have an open pole vault competition, featuring a number of the women who were in the Olympic trials. There will be 10 women competing who have cleared more than 14 feet, which is a quality-level you usually only see at the national championship meets. Two of them are VT team members. The collegiate women start at 11AM and the post-collegiate women start at 2PM. The men's side also has a post-collegiate group of pole vaulters (4 guys who have cleared over 18 feet) competing at 5PM Friday. Rector Fieldhouse is very fan-friendly, with seating areas for the track, pole vault and throwing events. VT is Pole Vault U in the collegiate track world, and this week's lineup looks special, especially on the women's side.
