Yeah when you dont have an understanding of the where or the why on defense


Then you have a tendency to "ball watch" and if your man moves while youre ball-watching then savvy college players will make you pay

He also didnt quite understand some timing offensively last year and the start of this year that not only was detrimental to his effectiveness, but it made everyone around him inefficient. Offense is so dependent on timing and spacing that a lack in either area in a possession can mean youre essentially guarding your own teammates.

Hes gotten better there as well funny enough by simply staying in one spot more. If he doesnt know where to be, just hold spacing. The worst thing you can do by holding spacing is to not give a proper passing outlet if a teammate gets in trouble. Thats infinitely better than not holding spacing and not being where you should be when you should be there.

His ability to be trusted on the floor has been big for this run as it has made VT slightly more versatile. He now needs to keep improving on both ends and perform in the spots where the ball falls to him.
