Hysteresis is intentionally placed into a closed-loop system to prevent


positive feedback from noise and therefore destructive oscillations. Please do not compare the lack of intellect displayed by AP pollsters with an intelligent design element such as hysteresis.

The scientific term for AP voter ignorance is "cognitive deficit."
