The women's AP voters are stubborn morons. First, they
have Kara Lawson adoration complex and refuse to recognize that Duke is flat losing to everyone with a pulse. Starting in Week 10 with Duke at #16 with an 11-2 record:
Duke loses 2 straight and falls only 5 spots. Now 11-4.
Duke wins 2 and stays at #21
Duke loses 2 more in a row, now at 13-6, and fall to #26
So they fall only 10 spots after going 2-4 in three weeks. That's because these voters must all be "old school" and remember her days at Tennessee, with the US Olympic team and most importantly with ESPN. It's the Mack Brown effect.
Now, Nell Fortner, has GT waaaay over-ranked at #16 despite losing consecutive games vs NCSU and VT. They were over-ranked before that at #11. This is the exact same effect, as Nell Fortner was with USA Basketball for many years and was an ESPN broadcaster in two different stints over 5 years.
This is not to take away from the accomplishments or the talent of either Lawson or Fortner. They have had huge success in their careers, as players, broadcasters and coaches. But the AP voters are just ESPN lapdogs who obviously developed crushes on these two attractive women through watching them compete and then discuss basketball. Sad.
In the meantime, VT women's basketball has been consistently under-rated by at least 3-4 spots simply because they lost to Liberty earlier in the season, supposedly. But it's more about that Kenny Brooks is not a matinee idol to these dolts.
