Perhaps, but the COVID outbreak interrupted the team’s development - they

would have gotten here much sooner if not for the loss of practice time, fitness, and schedule continuity. As we have seen, even professional teams suffer after coming back from a significant break in action. VT has not experienced a serious loss to the lineup due to injury (knock on wood), but their W-L record would be much better without the impacts of COVID.
