Interlock device is standard punishment for a DUI

the guilty party can also opt out of the interlock device in exchange for turning in their drivers license.

a friend of mine went through this, and I remember the details correctly, he was presented with two options during sentencing..
1) were no driving / no license for 6mo
2) an interlock device for 12mo
