Friends, if you get a chance, please listen to Evan's Podcast with Keely
This young lady is not only amazing in the circle, but she is an awesome representative of Virginia Tech. Coach D'Amour should send her out on the recruiting trail.
Please take time to listen to this Podcast - it's AWESOME!!!!
Some samples:
"We got a lot better during the fall"
"Our hitters are really good at seeing pitches, picking the right pitch, and hitting it hard"
*Playing good competition early in the season "helps tremendously - especially the younger girls"
*She came back for her 5th year because of the coaching staff. "I honestly don't think I could play for everyone else. Hands down, I can say if it wasn't for these coaches, I wouldn't be back"
*They call Coach Doug "Mr. Miyagi" because he has them do unconventional things, but if you trust him, it makes you better. The coaches have a purpose behind everything - even goofy stuff"lol
*She and Mackenzie Lawter have tremendous trust and she feels "so very confident" in her. Keely doesn't even have to shake her off - if she takes an extra second longer looking at a sign, Mac knows to change the pitch
*Her drop ball and change up have developed "so much" since being at VT thanks to Doug
*Preseason rankings are "cool, but we still have to go out there and do what we do best. We don't pay much attention to it - just go out there and play"
"Emma Lemley is unreal. She could be a 4-time all American. Great attitude, great demeaner, she is very talented, and she has the best coaches to get her developed."
*She "is so interested in seeing not only the other pitchers this year, but the years to come" with Emma, Ivy, and Ozzy. "Knowing that they are already so good, but Doug is still developing them, they're going to be unreal. Our pitchers are going to be disgusting"
*The other pitchers call her "mom." The pitchers are "so close and not a lot of programs can say that"
*Doesn't want to take anything for granted - "just go out there and give it everything I've got every game."
*Takes a lot of pride in the culture that they have established. Lots of programs can hit home runs and throw no hitters, but the culture we have at Virginia Tech is NOT in a lot of programs and we take a lot of pride in that"
She is one remarkable young lady.
Thanks, Keely for being a Hokie
