Do contractors actually put in a truck bed that have a solid enough steel base to be close enough to their magnets to actually hold. And the magnets that COULD hold enough at a distance would be quite heavy. Plus safety and blah blah.

I see this as just someone with an idea and Ford is getting the patent to prevent others or to litigate any possible infringement in the future. I’m sure the claims are quite broad. They probably have whole departments setup to just patent things like this for those reasons.
