I did it in 2018 for a county case (Loudoun) ...

Case of a 17 year-old kid dealing heroine (felony charges). Due to our messed up legal system the jury wasn't allowed to know if the kid had a prior history, however, the details of the case made it very clear of the charges against him. 12 people of all backgrounds voted unanimously that he was guilty of all three counts on the second vote and within 30 minutes of beginning deliberations. That was the easy part. Recommending a sentence took more than 5 hours that day and we had to come back the next morning as well. There were two or three that didn't think the kid needed jail time (again - felony charges) because they weren't sure it wasn't his first offense. In the end the recommendation was a total of 12 months in jail and the judge could accept the jury recommendation or impose his own sentence.

Once the trial was over I searched the legal records for the kid and he had a laundry list of drug-related charges including previous felonies that were plead down. Our instincts were correct but I still wish we could have known about those previous arrests during the trial - would have saved a ton of time. Not sure if it was because was a minor or because those charges had been plead down.
