Pitt’s defense was terrible in the first half, and we feasted on open shots. In the second half Pitt picked up their defense and made it more difficult to run our offense. Plus, we had some bad turnovers, and Pitt was playing over their head on offense. Add in some bad calls and we were surviving a perfect storm surge from Pitt. But despite the bad calls I don’t want to take anything away from Pitt’s second half performance, which was really good on both ends. We won because we had some players step up and hit some big shots at critical moments, particularly Murphy and Alleyne. I doubt that Pitt will duplicate it’s performance of either half on Monday night. I expect the second game to be more of a grind and we will need to stop making the bad passes this time around.
