@ EDGEMAN...I think I fixed my truck.

I mentioned earlier this week that my truck died and threw all sorts of codes, the most consistent of which was related to the crank position sensor circuit. I got it back home and did some troubleshooting, and I was able to make the truck die again on command several times by fiddling with the wiring harness at the crank sensor. After several times of doing that, I couldn't get it to start back up, so I figured I must have caused the problem wire(s) to permanently fail. Today I tore into the harness and found what appeared to be two tiny sections of bare wire in two of the three crank sensor wires where the harness had been rubbing against the engine block beside the oil filter - it makes a hard bend there. I cut out the damaged sections, spliced in some new wire with weatherproof butt connectors and some heat shrink tubing, and buttoned everything back up with new wire loom and added a short piece of heater hose around the harness to protect the area where the damage had occured. Then I crossed my fingers and cranked the engine, and thankfully it fired up on the first try without sputtering.

I had disconnected the battery while I was working on it, so I'll have to drive it a bit to see if any of the codes come back. I don't want to jinx myself, but hopefully I found the one and only wiring problem. 🤞
