Weird sequence in the BC/UVA game that makes me question my understanding
of the restricted arc. BC player drives the ball and gets called for an offensive foul for leaning into the UVA player. It was later changed to a flagrant foul because he elbowed the UVA player on the play.
The thing is that the UVA defender’s foot was clearly in the restricted arc when the contact was made. I’m having to watch with no volume, so not sure if this was discussed at all (probably not knowing most announcers these days). If the flagrant didn’t occur, is it still an offensive foul? Does the flagrant change things?
