I played off-guard (2) when I was 10 years old on my local Catholic Saturday league team. Our team was a juggernaut. We played a 2-3 zone all season and stifled opponents thanks to our 5'8" center, Herbert Jones (grew to 6'6" and played tackle at Appy State). My primary job on offense was to take the first pass from the point guard and dump it inside to Herbert. He'd turn around and shoot it from 5 feet. Unstoppable. I went the whole season without scoring until one game late in the season. They collapsed the whole team on Herbert. So, I shot it from about 15 feet from the right of the key. Swish. The next three possessions played out exactly the same with the exact same results 4/4. I was completely in the zone. Other than the point I scored the previous year in the last second of the last game from the free throw line, those were the only points I ever scored in organized basketball.
