If you're buying an assembled bike, Specialized is probably shipping...


...to their LBS who delivers it to the consumer. I'm sure they get assembly & delivery fees.

Generally speaking, decent bikes need very little maintenance. The Trek I purchased last year did need a front derailleur adjustment after about 500 miles, but otherwise it has performed flawlessly.
