Don't think invasion will make Russia more powerful...

the same way military victories in Viet Nam and Afghanistan did not make the US more powerful. Not to mention Putin is driving countries like Sweden and Finland toward NATO membership with this move. Putin might very will invade, but I think it would be a huge blunder on his part.

And as an aside I'll say that IMO, going to war for a non-NATO country would be a very bad precedent. Why pay the price of membership if protective umbrella is free?
