You do realize the Maples Leafs are already sharing the

Scotiabank Arena with the Raptors, the Rock (NLL team), and the Marlies (Maple Leafs' AHL affiliate)? Everyone seems to find a way to make it work even if it means 2 teams playing a home game on the same day. FWIW the Staple Center can convert from a basketball arena to ice hockey arena in under 2 hours (approximately 1 hour 50 minutes). I suspect Toronto has a similar response time.

While the Canadians currently don't share the Bell Centre with anyone right now, the arena has hosted several NBA exhibition games over the years and it seems to be a somewhat popular host venue for MMA PPVs, professional wrestling PPVs, and concerts. It is probably likely that the Scotiabank Arena is also a popular venue for concerts.

My point is that the Maple Leafs and probably the Canadians are already flexible with their home scheduling, so I serious doubt they are that much different than the Hurricanes. Even PNC Arena hosts its fair share of PPVs, concerts, and other similar type shows. Besides, you don't know if this would be a permanent solution or temporary solution while the schools build a new basketball or hockey arena.
