Agree on the TJ not getting back down to 184
solid, strong and still growing. He missed 184 weigh-in at WNO this year (which he won). Reports/interviews state he has recently been weighing in around 200. Been wrestling up 2 classes and 20+ lbs in most cases for his team and killing it. Think he probably slots in at 197. Wherever he slots - beast (even if he somehow makes it back down to 184). If not - that could cause a problem at 184. Bolen is one of my all-time favorites - his sophomore year run (including that incredible tourney at Navy Classic I think it was) was one of the greatest tourney performances I’ve ever seen - incredible wrestling against all hammers - but he just appears burnt out. And a few others have posted they believe he will not use that extra year next year. Totally get it - the grind these guys go through is just insane - but I get an end of career Sol Chisko/Epperly vibe. Hopefully he finds an anchor and gets it back up to that top elite level. David McFadden was heading that path the year he bumped up to 174; “found it” later in that season and wrestled to AA status with a great NCAA tourney run beating some hammers to get it again. DMF was already one of my favs - that year was an entire next level.
Makes the recruiting misses at potential 184 hurt a little more. Believe they were looking at Gabe Arnold at 184. Before that it was Singleton. That one really stings - he had/has a ton of VT ties - and that fact he picked NC State and we’ll have to compete against him for 4 years is a major bummer.
Hopefully we’ll figure it out!
