We had an indoor cat that went missing for a day in 2006.

And the following night we hear scratching at the front door and there she was. I’m convinced she abandoned us intentionally to live by herself and after 36 hours with likely no food or water she realized independent living wasn’t what she thought it would be and wanted back in the house.
