I think it's fair to say NC State has become the top program in the ACC. I was curious how we match up in the Jan. 21 dual. Rankings from InterMat and info from WrestleStat.

125: #21 Sam Latona vs. #11 Jakob Camacho All depends on which Latona shows up, Q1 '21 or Q4 '21? Winnable match but based on the Q4 version of Latona 0-3

133: #5 Korbin Myers vs. #17 Kai Orine Myers has been rock solid over the last two years and nothing indicates that will change. 3-3 (maybe 4-3)

141: NR Sam Hillegas or NR Collin Geradi vs. #15 Ryan Jack I'm still traumatized by the time Kevin Jack beat Devin Carter in ACCs. I haven't seen anything to indicate we'll get the upset here. 3-6

149: #7 Bryce Andonian vs. #3 Tariq Wilson Bryce can win, and this will definitely be an entertaining match, but Wilson's only loss the last two seasons was to #1 Jaydin Eierman. 3-9

157: #23 Connor Brady vs. #10 Ed Scott Connor has been wrestling well. Scott is up from 149 last year & lost to Andonian twice. Winnable but likely 3-12

165: NR Clayton Ulrey vs. #23 Thomas Bullard Looking at this season's results I don't know how Bullard is ranked. From WrestleStat his best win is vs. #49. Likely a very close match. 6-12

174: #3 Mekhi Lewis vs. #4 Hayden Hidlay Should be a great match and either could win. 9-12

184: #13 Hunter Bolen vs. #3 Trent Hidlay A year ago I would have picked Bolen but he's trending down and Hidlay is trending up. Hidlay has been dominant this year & his only loss since 2/5/21 was to #1 Aaron Brooks at NCAAs. But that Feb. 5 loss was to ... Hunter Bolen. 9-15

197: #33 Dakota Howard or NR Andy Smith vs. #19 Isaac Trumble A winnable match (remember the Smeltzer match last year? Trumble came back to win 6-5) but likely 9-18

HWT: #13 Nathan Traxler vs. #23 Owen Trephan Since Ohio State Traxler has been wrestling well. Hunter Catka beat Trephan at the Wolfpack Open but lost to him at the Southern Scuffle. 12-18

State has a great team, especially for duals, with ranked guys at every weight class. However, if Latona and Bolen return to form and win then my predicted score flips . Andonian, Brady, Ulrey and Smith all have great opportunities to beat guys above them in the rankings. And, of course, bonus points can change things. This could be another wild one that comes down to the very end, like a takedown to back points at the buzzer.
